Right-size the building

Four dimensions prevent expensive surprises.

01

Rig length

Include bumpers, ladders, hitches, racks, and anything that stays attached.

02

Travel height

Measure the highest actual point, then add the operational clearance your door system requires.

03

Door width

Allow for mirrors, steering correction, weather seals, guides, and imperfect approaches.

04

Working room

Plan walkways, slide-outs, hookups, shelves, tools, and future vehicle changes.

A 40-foot rig does not belong in a 40-foot-deep building.

The named RV length may exclude attachments, and the building needs usable clearance at both ends. Confirm the exact rig envelope, door hardware, interior obstructions, and access path before approving dimensions.

Enclosed garage

Four walls. Controlled access.

An enclosed package adds a complete wall and roof envelope around the stored vehicle. It is the stronger fit when security, wind-driven weather, privacy, tools, and year-round access matter.

  • Better protection from sun, snow, hail exposure, and wind-driven debris
  • Lockable access and concealed storage
  • Space for maintenance, batteries, hookups, and travel gear

Covered storage

Lower enclosure. Lower protection.

A roof-only or partially enclosed structure may reduce direct sun and precipitation, but it leaves the vehicle more exposed to wind, dust, visibility, and unauthorized access. Whitestar’s catalog is centered on premium enclosed steel buildings.

RV storage questions

How tall should an RV garage be?
Start with the measured height of the rig at its highest travel point, including roof equipment, then add the clearance required by the selected door and safe operation. Eave height and clear opening height are not interchangeable, so confirm both on the final design.
What size building fits a 40-foot motorhome?
A 40-foot-deep building is too short for a 40-foot rig. Measure the true bumper-to-ladder envelope and add room for the door, rear clearance, walkways, utilities, and any attached equipment. The quoting team can turn those measurements into a practical shell size.
How much does RV storage cost to build?
Price changes with width, length, eave height, clear door opening, roof style, framed openings, design loads, finish, and delivery region. Published product pages show exact physical-kit pricing; concrete and erection are separate estimates or quotes.
Does a framed opening include the RV door?
Not automatically. A framed opening is structural space for a future door. The door, operator, hardware, trim, and installation are included only when the exact product and order documents say so.
Can I store more than an RV?
Yes. Many owners plan adjacent bays or clear space for boats, side-by-sides, trailers, workshops, and travel gear. Define the complete storage plan before placing openings and columns.
